Bickiepegs Teething Biscuit: Supporting Healthy Jaw Development Since 1925.

Invented in 1925 by a Harley Street pediatrician, Bickiepegs Teething Biscuits—also known as Bickiepegs Wheat Teether - are crafted to provide a firm, resistive surface for chewing. These biscuits are essential for the healthy development of babies’ jaws and teeth. Starting from 6 months, as babies enter the teething stage, Bickiepegs Wheat Teether offers a natural and effective way to support oral development.

Why Choose Bickiepegs Teething Biscuit?

1. Hard Surface for Jaw and Oral Development

  • The hardness of Bickiepegs Teething Biscuits promotes proper chewing, engaging orofacial muscles for jawbone growth and muscle development.
  • Its unique shape allows babies to "bite" using incisors, canines, and molars, ensuring balanced oral cavity development and supporting a strong jawline.

2. Supports Hand-Eye Coordination

  • The finger-sized design of Bickiepegs Wheat Teether makes it easy for babies to hold independently, mimicking the natural grip of a finger.
  • Helps improve hand-eye coordination as babies learn to handle and chew the biscuit.

3. Eases Transition to Solid Foods

  • Introduces babies to harder textures, preparing them for a variety of food consistencies and reducing picky eating habits.
  • Strengthens chewing muscles, making it easier for babies to adapt to solid foods later.

4. Soothes Teething Pain

  • The firm texture of the biscuits provides relief from gum soreness through gentle pressure during biting.
  • Regular chewing supports straighter tooth growth, better jaw alignment, and creates more space for future teeth.

5. A Natural and Hygienic Teething Solution

  • Single-use hygienic design: Each biscuit is for one-time use, ensuring a clean and safe experience.
  • Made with only wheat flour, wheat germ, and water—no added sugar, salt, artificial preservatives, or flavourings.
  • Handmade daily in Scotland, rigorously quality-checked, and compliant with WHO Codex standards and UK Food Safety Regulations.

How to Use

  1. Inspect Before Use: Check each biscuit for damage. Pull and bend in all directions; discard if broken or compromised.
  2. Attach Safety Ribbon: Thread the ribbon through the biscuit’s hole and secure it to the baby’s wrist or clothing. Wash and reuse ribbons as needed.
  3. Introduce the Biscuit: Allow the baby to hold and chew independently or gently guide the biscuit to their mouth.
  4. Encourage Chewing: Encourage three bites on one side of the mouth, then switch to the other. Position near the premolars for effective chewing.
  5. Timing: Offer before meal times to encourage interest. Use for up to 20 minutes per session and discard after use.

What Makes It Different

Built for How Babies Actually Develop

A classic, timeless biscuit invented by a Harley Street paediatrician
Since 1925

A classic, timeless biscuit invented by a Harley Street paediatrician

In 1925, Dr Harry Campbell MD FRCP - a leading Harley Street paediatrician -noticed a worrying rise in dental disease and underdeveloped jaws in UK children. His research linked it directly to diets of soft, processed foods that gave infants no opportunity to chew. His solution was Bickiepegs: a firm, resistive biscuit designed to exercise the jaw from the very start.
Resistive Chewing Is the Point
Expert-Developed

Resistive Chewing Is the Point

The firm texture of Bickiepegs isn't accidental - it's the whole idea. In contrary to other soft teething wafers, teething cookies and sticks, chewing against resistance exercises orofacial muscles, drives jawbone growth, and supports the balanced development of the oral cavity. The finger-shaped design helps reach the baby's back teeth, encouraging them to to use their incisors, canines, and molars.
Three Ingredients. That's It.
Nothing Hidden

Three Ingredients. That's It.

Wheat flour. Wheat germ. Water. That is the entire ingredient list — and it has been since 1925. No added sugar. No added salt. No artificial preservatives, flavourings, or colourings. No shortcuts. Just a clean, simple biscuit handmade every single day in Scotland, held to WHO Codex standards and UK Food Safety Regulations.
It Does More Than Soothe
More Than Teething Relief

It Does More Than Soothe

The finger-shaped design means babies grip the biscuit themselves — building hand-eye coordination as they learn to guide it to their mouth. It introduces babies to harder textures, easing the transition to solid foods and reducing picky eating habits later on. The cotton safety ribbon keeps it secure and hygienic. One small biscuit. A lot going on.
Easy to Use

How To Use

Follow these simple steps for the best experience.

Step 1

Check before every use

Inspect each biscuit before giving it to your baby. Pull and bend it in all directions. If it's broken or cracked, discard it and use a fresh one.

Step 2

Thread the safety ribbon

Pass the cotton ribbon through the hole in the biscuit and tie or clip it to your baby's wrist or clothing. This prevents it dropping on the floor. Ribbons are washable and reusable.

Step 3

Let your baby take the lead

Place the biscuit in your baby's hand and let them bring it to their mouth themselves. Guide gently if needed. Encourage three chews on one side, then switch — positioning near the back premolars is ideal.

Step 4

Discard after use.

Each biscuit is single-use. Discard once the biscuit shows signs of softening, becomes unstable or misshapen, or after 20 minutes — whichever comes first. Store unused biscuits in an airtight container. Biscuits can be chilled in the fridge (not frozen) for extra soothing relief.

Why Jaw Exercise Matters From Young
The Science of Chewing During Infancy

Why Jaw Exercise Matters From Young

Teething isn't just about discomfort — it's a critical window for oral development. The muscles, bones, and teeth forming in the first two years of life are shaped, in part, by the mechanical forces of chewing. Dr Harry Campbell saw this in 1925. Modern dental research confirms it. Giving babies something firm and resistive to chew on during this period isn't just soothing — it's genuinely developmental.
  • Chewing Builds the Jaw

Resistive chewing stimulates jawbone growth and exercises orofacial muscles. Babies who chew on appropriately firm objects during teething develop stronger jaw structures and better tooth alignment.

  • Shape Matters for Tooth Spacing

The finger-shaped Bickiepeg is designed to encourage use of incisors, canines, and molars in sequence. This promotes balanced development across the whole oral cavity and creates natural space for adult teeth.

  • Soothes Through Pressure, Not Chemicals

Teething pain is relieved by gentle counter-pressure on the gums. Bickiepegs provide this naturally — no gels, no medication, no numbing agents. Just firm, safe pressure from a food-grade biscuit.

  • Bridges Teething and Solid Foods

As the biscuit slowly softens with chewing, it introduces increasingly varied textures. This trains chewing muscles and builds tolerance for solid foods — a benefit that shows up at the dinner table months later.

“The best teether we have tried. My daughter loves it and I feel so much better knowing it is safe.”
Sarah M. — Mum of one, 7 months
“We have recommended Bickiepegs to every parent in our NCT group. Brilliant product with real heritage.”
James and Laura — Parents of twins
“The difference in my son’s chewing during teething was noticeable within the first week.”

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend Bickiepegs from 6 months, as this is when most babies begin teething. However, if your baby is showing early teething signs before this, Bickiepegs can be introduced earlier if you feel that they are ready. As always, supervise your baby throughout every session.
Yes. Bickiepegs are made from wheat flour, wheat germ, and water — just three simple food ingredients with no added sugar, salt, artificial preservatives, or flavourings. They are fully food-safe, compliant with UK Food Safety Regulations and WHO Codex standards. As babies chew, the biscuit gradually softens and small amounts may be ingested — this is normal and safe. Always supervise use. Note: Bickiepegs contain gluten and are not suitable for babies with a wheat or gluten intolerance.
Each pack includes 2 washable cotton safety ribbons. Thread the ribbon through the hole in the biscuit and tie or attach it to your baby's wrist or clothing — this prevents it from dropping on the floor and keeps it hygienic and within reach. The ribbons are fully washable and reusable across multiple sessions. We only include 2 per pack, but if you need more, just contact us and we'll send additional ribbons free of charge.
The biscuits are single-use — discard each one once it shows signs of softening, becomes unstable or misshapen, or after 20 minutes, whichever comes first. The cotton safety ribbons are different: they're fully washable and reusable, so keep hold of them between sessions. If you ever need extra ribbons, contact us and we'll send more free of charge. Store unused biscuits in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Bickiepegs is a food-based teether — not a snack, not a treat. The distinction matters. Teething snacks and rusks are typically sweet, soft, and designed to be eaten. Bickiepegs is the opposite: deliberately unsweetened, deliberately firm. There's no sugar reward driving the chewing; the benefit is entirely in the chewing action itself. It just happens to be made from food-grade ingredients, which means if your baby ingests a little as they chew, that's completely safe. There is nothing else quite like it.
This varies by baby and stage of teething. Most parents offer one biscuit per session, once or twice a day, typically before mealtimes. Each session should last no longer than 20 minutes.

Great for Teething bubs

Great for teething babies, used this from 6m+ our son loved them! They helped with his gum pain, and gave him something to distract from the discomfort.
Taste alright too.
Good value for money, and pretty easy to use.

Only downside is they only provide two strings for the pegs. They get soaked and dirty easily, so unless you wash them, they will likely get bacteria.

Over all very effective.

Brilliant product. I've used Bickiepeg's for all 3 kids

They're fantastic for teething. I've used Bickiepeg's with all 3 of my children. I was even given them when I was a baby 38 years ago!

No wonder they've been going since the 1920's! They're a great product.

All natural ingredients. They're vegan and vegetarian friendly seeings they're just made of Wheat Flour and Wheatgerm.

Just be careful when your baby is using it, you need to be with them the whole time. They are small so the baby can hold it and chew on it. So attach it to something where the baby can't drop it or choke on it. I tie my son's Bickiepeg on to his dummy clip and always follow the instructions, don't let your baby chew on it for any longer than 20 minutes at a time.

I don't think there is much flavour to them because all my children enjoyed chewing on them so they can't taste too bad.

Highly recommended purchase!

Little baby Cerise, 8 months old, was crying a lot because of her sore gums. The moment we presented her with her Bickiepeg she grabbed it and put it gleefully into her mouth and loved chewing it. She loves it, and hardly ever cries now. So a big thank you to everyone at Bickiepegs!
PS we wish we could find them in France and Japan, where little Cerise lives.

Thank you so much for sharing Cerise's experience! Glad to have helped :)

Helped my teething baby

I’m really pleased with the Bickiepegs. They’re incredibly durable and strong, which is exactly what you want for a teething product that gets used (and chewed!) a lot. They don’t break or soften easily, so they last well even with regular use.

They’ve been a great help during teething—firm enough to soothe sore gums, while still being safe and suitable for little ones. My baby seems to really enjoy them, and they definitely help keep them settled.

One of the most useful features is the string that comes with them. Being able to tie the Bickiepeg and attach it to my baby’s wrist is a game changer—it stops it from constantly being dropped or lost, especially when out and about.

Overall, a simple but very effective product. Practical, reliable, and clearly designed with both babies and parents in mind. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone with a teething baby.

Excellent

Brilliant! I used these 25 years ago for my own children and i now use them for my granddaughter. They are not as robust as they used to be but still brilliant. I would advise you to monitor your babywith them as they get soggy and bits start to break off but as far as helping with teething gums id 100% recommend

My baby didn’t like them but it’s personal preference

Think the principle of the item is great and I can definitely see how they would help some children. My child however didn’t like the taste of them. If there was a variety of flavours I feel like it would be abit different but the biscuits are a very dull flavour and that’s why I’ve deducted 1 star. And for weaning babies they get bored easily. Easy to use and could be effective if my child kept it in his mouth long enough . Value for money, I would say parents are willing to pay anything if it will stop the teething cry. Simple design and easy to use. Wouldn’t buy again though personally. Back to the drawing board for more teething help 🤦‍♀️😂

Gamechanger for teething

So, standard soft touch teethers and gel teethers she will not take. Extremely fussy with calpol, anbesol and teething granules we felt like we were losing our minds trying to find a solution. An old wifey mentioned these to me and apparently my own parents used these for me but had no idea till i reminded them. Anyway our wee one loves them! holds on to it for aslon as possible, they do get soft so id watch out for your wee one dropping them and getting dirty.
great product and a lifesaver but i have taken a star off as you only get 2 ribbons, should really be including more even if it was slightly more expensive.

still well worth it

Broke off in my daughter’s mouth

I’m afraid I need to add my voice to those who’ve had these break. They are indeed rock hard, however when I gave one to my 6 month old after 5 minutes I discovered a piece of the biscuit in her mouth. I have no idea how she managed to break it but she did. I was timing her use of the biscuit (they shouldn’t be used for more than 20 minutes) so I know how quickly it broke. My heart stopped. Fortunately I fished the piece out of her mouth. I have looked at other reviews to see whether this is a repeat experience. I do not understand why a broken off piece of the biscuit is not understood as a chocking hazard.

Wish I bought them earlier

I wasn’t sure about giving biscuits at first but these aren’t like normal biscuits, they’re firm. Actually worked out very well for teething! My son just sits and chews and chews, gives him something to focus on instead of being miserable. Should've got them way earlier tbh.

Brilliant for teething babies

Brought these for my grandson as I did for my children 20+years ago, really helped with teething and something for his hands, comes with small string to tie so doesn't drop on the floor.
