    So he made it.

Bickiepegs Limited was founded to bake one thing: a hard biscuit for babies to gnaw.

  3. 1927

    A bakery of its own.

Baking moved to Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.

  4. 1934

    Word reached the palace.

Princess Margaret had chewed Bickiepegs when she was teething, so the Duchess of York let us say they were “used in the Royal nursery”.

  7. 1952

    Off around the world.

Bickiepegs set off around the world. Canada, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Hong Kong and Malta were among the first of many countries.

  8. 1972

    North to Scotland.

Baking moved to Aberdeen, where we still bake today.

  9. 1973

    On the big screen.

An award-winning film on teething, Nothing but the tooth, featured Bickiepegs.

  10. 1982

A royal baby, a royal biscuit.

With “used in the Royal nursery” still on the pack, newspapers wondered whether Prince William chewed Bickiepegs on his grandmother’s advice.

In his own words

“…during the years of development, [food] should be taken in forms which compel adequate mastication, such as stale bread, bread-crusts, and hard biscuits.”
