Doidy Cup: The Original Training Cup for Independent Drinking
First designed in 1950 by a parent, the Doidy Cup was created to teach children how to drink properly and independently. Recommended by dentists and speech therapists, it is widely recognised by NHS trusts, charities, and councils as the ideal cup for children. Its free-flow functionality supports natural sipping motions, while the open cup and slanted design help children see the liquid level, improving hand-eye coordination and building confidence. Suitable for babies aged 3 months and older, the Doidy Cup supports the journey toward independent drinking. While its primary focus is on teaching proper drinking techniques, it also aids in transitioning from breastfeeding or bottle-feeding.
Why Choose the Doidy Cup?
- Free-Flow Design: Recommended for Development
The Doidy Cup’s free-flow functionality is recommended by dentists and speech therapists. It allows liquid to flow naturally, encouraging sipping motions that support healthy oral development and help protect teeth. - Open Design: Easier Transition from Breastfeeding
The open design lets children see the liquid level, helping them train their hand-eye coordination while learning to drink properly. Unlike bottles or sippy cups, it mimics the natural sipping motion, boosting confidence and preparing children to drink independently—a key NHS milestone by 12 months. - Child-Friendly Features
Thoughtfully designed with two easy-grip handles, the Doidy Cup is ideal for little hands, making it simple for children to lift and control. Its slanted shape ensures drinking is intuitive and frustration-free for beginners. - Simple to Clean and Use
With no extra parts, the Doidy Cup is hassle-free for busy parents. It’s dishwasher-safe (top shelf), microwave-safe, and travel-friendly for easy use at home or on the go. - Safe and High-Quality Materials
Made from BPA-free, food-grade polypropylene, the Doidy Cup complies with BS EN 14350:2020 standards for safety and durability, giving parents peace of mind.
How to Use
- Wash the Doidy Cup before the first use.
- Pour a small amount of liquid into the cup. Gently place the rim on the baby’s lower lip to let them sip.
- As your child grows, encourage them to hold the cup handles and drink independently. Spills may occur but are part of the learning process.
Warnings and Precautions
- Always supervise your child while feeding or drinking.
- Check the temperature of liquids before serving.
- Never leave a child unattended during feeding.
- Discard at the first signs of damage or wear.

Absolutely love this! Such a great cup, my 6 month old can use it. We were helping him to drink from a normal cup but the rim tended to hit his forehead/nose. This cup, because of the angel, doesn’t do that. It’s perfect!

Very good

Looks good, however for my baby it still doesn’t work. He is 8 months old however (6 months corrected age because he is premature). It takes a lot of practice and patience.

Bought for my 6 month old for when starting solids. He drinks water well from it (with some leakage of course as is expected).

I bought this for my one year old granddaughter, she likes to try to try to drink out of adult cups so I thought she’d enjoy having a go with this. It wasn’t successful, she just tips the whole thing upside down instead so we’re keeping it until she’s a bit older. The cup itself is really lovely quality.

Such a good cup for weaning. Teaches him to sip really well. I love this cup. Hesees the colour and gets excited as he knows he gets his water. Gets to blow bubbles and experiment with water on his lips.
Works so well.
Best cup for home.
Easy for you to control whilst child uses the handles.
Doesn’t tip easily either.
Really easy to clean.
No leaks. This product is made very well

Recommended to use this cup by my sons paediatrician to help using an open cup. My sin personally didn’t take to it.

My 17 month old picked it up with no hesitation. As they don’t have to really lift up fully due to angle it does not spill everywhere like other cups. Looking forward to using this daily to train him towards a normal cup. Washes easy and appears to be good quality material.
